I believe that to have a safe, legal, and ethical use of technology in the classroom, the students must be aware of the responsibility they hold while using this technology. There are many uses of technology and quickly turn from an ethical use into a browsing use of the students. Students should have a good background knowledge of what the dangers are online. After the students are well aware of the technology they are using, they should have a set of instructions of what is expected of them while using the technology. Technology is a privilege to use, not a right, and I believe students should understand that before embarking online. Technology is really a great use to students to find information, learn, create, and inspire students. While the students are using technology they should be monitored and made sure by the supervising teacher what their intentions are while online or using digital information. With changing technology happening all the time, it is important for me as a teacher to understand the technology, as the students will most likely have an understanding of what that technology is capable of. Having the upper hand in technology for your students is key to ensure a safe, legal, and ethical use of technology.
This blog is about my experience learning about the differing teaching practices, learning environments within the classroom, activities that can be participated or assessed by and integrating technology in the classroom. I will reflect on these experiences throughout the semester in ETC 447.
